IT Technician (Tier 2) – First Service Corporation – Panama City, FL

Job Summary:

Perform installations, maintenance and repair work on any computer related equipment that supports the business from laptops, desktops, communications equipment (digital & IP phones), tablets (including iPad’s), smart phones (Blackberry’s, iPhone’s, Android’s), printers, and  any other computer related peripheral or software an end user would be reasonable expected to use.  An IT Technician is required to perform all tasks while providing a high level of customer service to the user.  Since the IT Technician will deal with frustrated clients who require their services immediately, the work environment can be stressful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a description of the major responsibilities of this position.  These job duties are subject to change according to department requirements.  This is a summary and does not include all activities that may be required to successfully perform in this job.  First and foremost is the ability to work safely, independently and in a team environment

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Connecting and setting up hardware
  • Installing work stations
  • Loading all necessary software
  • Providing network access and connectivity
  • Installing and maintaining Antivirus and Spyware
  • Troubleshooting operating system, software and hardware
  • Troubleshooting all issues in a timely manner
  • Recording all maintenance actions in “Track-It”
  • Maintaining a list of necessary maintenance and repairs
  • Researching both current and potential services and resources
  • Recording all asset information and disposition in “Track-It”
  • Identifying and preparing hardware for safe disposal
  • Ensuring hardware is secured and stripped before disposal
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair workstations via a remote desktop connection

Secondary responsibilities include:

  • Documenting work processes where non exist
  • Being familiar with network operating system, software and hardware
  • Taking new users through the orientation process
  • Providing individual support and training upon request
  • Maintaining an updated inventory of software, hardware and resources
  • Other appropriate tasks as assigned by Senior Staff
  • Perform any other IT related duties either during working hours or when necessary after hours.

Qualifications and Certificates

  • A+, Network+, Sec+, or equivalent plus 3 years of working experience

Position Requirements

  • Extensive experience of troubleshooting and repair of computers and peripherals
  • Thorough understanding of PC hardware
  • A working knowledge of network operating systems and hardware
  • Experience in equipment support
  • Working technical knowledge of the latest operating systems, network protocols and standards.
  • Ability to read and understand all relevant documents, including OEM guides, procedural documentation and technical manuals.
  • Ability to use peripheral accessories, components and other related tools.
  • Ability to carry out relevant research
  • Ability to perform tasks and prioritize in high-pressure environments
  • Attention to detail
  • A good understanding of the organization’s objectives
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Proven record of outstanding customer-service

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Must be able work with a computer for a minimum of 7 hours daily either standing or sitting
  • Must be able to read printed materials and computer screen with or without MS or other software accessibility functions
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in e-mail, by phone, or in person during the course of the workday
